OPEN CHRISTMAS DAY MORNING 10 til 12!!!

As we will not be away over Christmas please note that we will therefore be OPEN AS USUAL for our Christmas Day Morning Coffee and Mince Pies event. ALL the proceeds will go to this years charity which is Derbyshire Air Ambulance. Come and listen to Carols being sung, or even join in! There will be the usual Saxophone and Flute accompaniment!

Coming Soon-----New look Tea Room/Dining Room!!

It may be quiet, but we are still busy! There is decorating to be done as well as the normal maintenance outside. Also our Tea Room/Dining Room is undergoing a facelift! Dogs are now welcome inside providing their owners are well behaved and clean. Also we are hopefully getting a new floor covering soon that will be better suited to wellies and walking boots.

No Hols this year!

Well it has certainly gone a bit quiet at the moment, however this is always a bit of a quiet time of year for us. That's why we normally go on our hols around Xmas/New Year. However this year as Jacky is still suffering with her foot, we can't fly so here we stay, for this year anyway. However we are really missing our trip to India and our friends in Cavelossim, Javed Jalla, Mark and Anil.

Cold Day = Tacos Soup

The cure for miserable wet weather is either to pontificate about how we should embrace the seasons OR take measures to ensure that embrace is kind to you! What better way to do this than to have a bowl of hot home made soup, with home made roll and butter, in front of a roaring log fire. Jacky's special soup for tomorrow is the ever popular TACOS, a meal in its self!

Sunny Rememberance Sunday

A beautiful sunny Sunday morning for Rememberance Sunday. Lest We Forget.

The morning mist has slowly risen with the sun, revealing the normality of the view from Robin Hood, this view only changing with the seasons and time.

BEES at Oakford Cottage.

I am pleased to say that my bees survived the winter 2013/14 and multiplied somewhat with swarms occuring during April and May this year. I now have 5 colonies helping to increase the local bee population. They are also helping my addiction to honey. So we have plenty of delicious Derbyshire Honey for sale from our own hives and also from 2 hives from the Derbyshire Beekeepers Association. We keep their training hives here for training purposes to encourage newcomers to this wonderful and absorbing pastime.

LATEST NEWS AFTER A LONG SUMMER.

Works Completed...

Oakford Cottage Tea Rooms and B&B and End Cottage Holiday Let now have their own independent Sewage Treatment Plants. This vital investment is not only good for us, our neighbours and the hamlet of Robin Hood but also means that neither we nor our business impinge on the environment. We would like to thank our customers for being patient whilst this work was being carried out.

Next.....

We will be open as usual (every day except Tuesday) through the Winter except for a short break for us ( to be advised ). Jacky is recovering well from her leg operation and is back in full charge in the kitchen again! The Winter season is always a bit quieter for us and during this time further small renovations and improvements will be being made ready for Spring.

But.......

Whilst all this is going on don't miss out on our tasty and warming lunches and refreshments during the cold weather. Most especially Jacky's latest soup Gallician Broth which is getting very favourable reports. Roaring log fire always burning in our dining room.

And.......

Tell us what you think. Sometimes we get it right sometimes we get it wrong, please tell us either way either in person or on our new Tripadvisor pages. Look under Hotels Matlock or Restaurants Matlock.

PS...message for dogs.

Your clean and well behaved owners are always welcome in our dining room as well.

Annual Holidays 2014
We are away on our Annual Holidays soon. The Tea Rooms will now be closed from 05-01-14 to 12-02-14. We look forward to seeing you after our break!
Annual Charity.
As you may be aware we select a charity for donations each year. For 2013 it was Leukaemia Research. Our Christmas Day Coffee, Mince Pies and Carols event went really well with everyone in good voice and excellent clarinet and sax playing from Pauline and Margaret. I am pleased to say that we raised over £270.00 on the day. Plus donations and plus the bike ride etc. this brings our total donation to Leukaemia Research to £735.88.
